Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Alaska Highway

Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Alaska Highway

Dawson Creek is the official jumping off point for the Alaskan highway. We have learned so much about the road since starting our adventure. I had no idea that the main purpose of the road came from the Pearl Harbor bombing. We read today that military leaders began looking at the maps and quickly realized that the strand of Aleutian Islands were only a mere 1,000 MILES from Japan. It’s truly amazing how far this road has come in such a short amount of time. It was really special to be here!
