About 5% of Alaska’s glaciers are growing glaciers and the rest indeed are melting, however as this sign indicates it’s actually good for the environment. We learned that the only living thing a glacier provides shelter for are ice worms. Now I’m sure they are a crucial part of ice worm society, but I think it’s kind of cool that when a glacier melts moose, bear, and other animals can call a new place home.
